GUEST INFORMATION
Welcome to our lovely villa, we hope you enjoy your stay and have a relaxing fun filled holiday.
VILLA MANAGEMENT
If you have any problems during your stay, please contact Terry Purnell on + 34 680 333 130
WATER
Water is a precious and limited resource on Lanzarote and needs to be conserved wherever possible eg the dishwasher will usually use less water than washing by hand. The villa has filtered drinking water on tap (kitchen sink tap only) so there is no need to buy bottled water.
We request only toilet paper be flushed down the toilet(s) and anything else be disposed of in the provided hygiene bags and placed in the waste bins in the bathrooms.
AIRCON
There are aircon units in the living room and all bedrooms. There’s an instruction booklet in the unit under the TV if needed
GARDEN
The garden is covered in a layer of Picon (black volcanic gravel) which is not just decorative, it helps retain water for the plants. Please avoid walking on it and don’t allow children to play in these areas. The picon is very abrasive so please avoid getting any in the pool as it will cause damage to the bottom surface and to the filter pump..
The gardener may visit during your stay but will keep his visit to a minimum to avoid disturbing you.
BINS
Houses are not provided with large dustbins here, so domestic waste needs to be taken to communal bins, there are some general waste wheelie bins by the main gate. For the nearest bins for recyclable waste turn right out of the main (top) gate, they are around 150 metres on the right hand side of the road. The nearest main waste bin site is situated at the corner of sector 25, Montana Roja near to the water park. The large bins there are divided into mixed and recyclable waste and are emptied regularly by the local council.
SMOKING
This is a NO SMOKING villa, please do not smoke inside the villa to provide a pleasant environment for everyone.
POOL
The pool is solar and independently heated to 28 degrees and should be kept covered when not in use as this will retain it’s temperature better and keep it clean. A pool engineer will visit during your stay to ensure the water is correctly treated and safe for you to use. For your own safety please use plastic glasses when using the pool area.
The grey towels are for use within the villa only and the striped towels are provided for your use around the pool and on the beach.
FURNITURE
To maintain the sofas in the villa we request that you do not use them to sleep on and take care not to sit on them with wet swimwear or sun cream on as this will cause staining. To keep the throws and cushions as clean as possible, please avoid placing them on the floor.
High Chair & Cot - These are available for guest use and can be found in the garage/utility room
EQUIPMENT HIRE
If you need to hire any other equipment during your stay this is a link to a company that will deliver and collect pushchairs, baby walkers, play pens etc: https://www.easyhire365.com/hire/ Their rates seem reasonable and we have received good feedback regarding their equipment and service.
TV
You can watch all UK TV channels plus an extensive range of UK & Worldwide Sports, Childrens TV, Movies etc
Instructions for use:
Use the Samsung remote to switch on the TV and select the “Smart STB” App (circled)
The “Smart STB” App will take around 45 seconds to load, don’t use the remote until the menu is displayed
You can then navigate the menu using the arrows and return button, use the return button to return to the menu from watching programmes.
IMPORTANT: if you see the above “Update Settings” message on screen, please select “later” as some updates will disable the STB App and all UK channels will be lost
If you experience any problems using the TV please contact Neil on + 44 777 398 5575.
WASHING MACHINE
If you wish to use the washing machine there are instructions in the garage/utility room. Please be aware of the safety delay switch, it is best to turn off the program or wait 5 minutes before opening the door to avoid risk of damage. There is an outdoor airier, pegs and iron available for your use.
DISHWASHER
Located in the kitchen
SECURITY
Although crime is low on the island, it is best to be aware of potential sneak thieves. Safes are provided for your valuables, please use them during your stay and leave the key in the safe when you leave. There is an intruder alarm fitted and we recommend you set it every time you go out. It is very user friendly and the instructions for this are on the last page of this file.
HEALTH
Should you need a doctor during your stay, the medical centre behind the bus station has a good reputation, with many English speaking staff. Please make sure you take your E111 or EHIC card and your passport with you.
If needed there are English speaking dentists at Denta Clinic by the church in Playa Blanca, also at Klinic on Calle Corellos near the post office or the London Dental Clinic in Tias (http://thelondondentalclinic.com)
There are many pharmacies available in Playa Blanca. Pharmacy staff are happy to give advice and will help if you need to replace any medications from home (for this service, ensure that you visit a “Farmacia” not a “Parafarmacia” as the latter only provides herbal remedies.
MOSQUITOS
Mosquitos are present in Lanzarote and you may not be aware of them until you have a bite! Plug in repellants work best and switched on at night will kill the mosquitos in the lounge and bedroom(s). It’s very hard not to get mosquitos in the villa when you have been out for the evening as they will sneak in when you get home.
SUPERMARKETS
The nearest supermarkets are at Playa Flamingo and there is a Spar at Punta Limones. There are also some larger larger supermarkets HiperDino in the centre of Playa Blanca, Lidl on the industrial estate on the outskirts of Playa Blanca next to the road to the airport and an Aldi which is on Avenida A Femes near to the Tropical Island Hotel
Our villa is in a lovely quiet residential neighbourhood and we ask that you respect our neighbours by keeping outside noise to a minimum.
If you encounter any problems with the villa during your stay or have any breakages, please contact the management team, they will be happy to help you.
OUT & ABOUT
The nearest beach is Playa Flamingo which is a 10 minute walk from the villa (turn left out of the bottom exit of the estate). It has a selection of restaurants on the beachfront and two supermarkets, it is very family-friendly.
The centre of Playa Blanca has its own beach, many excellent restaurants, cafes, bars and shops and is about another 20 minute walk from walk along the promenade from Playa Flamingo.
There is another lovely beach just a few minutes walk past the main promenade called Playa Dorada there are sun beds and parasols and a selection of family friendly bars and cafes close by.
From the harbour at Playa Blanca you can get the ferry to Fuerteventura or book a sailing or submarine trip, there is a lot to choose from!
Marina Rubicon is another 20 minute walk along the promenade from the centre of Playa Blanca. On the way there are more bars and restaurants for a stop off, many have night time entertainment that are worthy of a visit.
Marina Rubicon has its own excellent upmarket restaurants and bars. There is a shopping centre, mini golf and a bowling alley, you can enjoy a drink, a bite to eat, browse the independent shops and admire the many beautiful yachts in the marina. There is also an artisan market every Wednesday and Saturday on the marina quayside from 9-2pm where local crafts and souvenirs are sold
Though a nice walk, if you prefer a lift home, taxis back to the villa from the centre of Playa Blanca or Marina Rubicon are plentiful and reasonably priced. There are several taxi ranks in the centre, the main one being behind the Old Mill Pub. The address for the villa is Playa Real on Calle Lanzarote.
Our villa is situated close to Montana Roja, you can walk up this dormant volcano and even walk around the edge or down into the crater. The views from the top are amazing. Just wear sturdy footwear, it’s well worth the walk!
There are several recommended restaurants situated a 5 minute walk away (including Sebastyans & Luna) turn right at the bottom entrance and go along the promenade or left and along the road from the top entrance. On the way you will find the Arena Sports Bar, a small convenience shop and a gym.
If you don’t want to cook or go out to eat, many of the local restaurants offer a takeaway and delivery service. Many are listed here https://www.takeawaylanzarote.com/eShop/en/manufacturers or you can contact restaurants directly to order and enquire about their own delivery service
If you would like to visit other parts of the island and you don’t want to drive, it is very easy to go by bus from the bus station situated in the centre of Playa Blanca. Fares are very reasonable and you can access full information at www.arrecifebus.com
There are more activities available, too many to mention here from bike hire to camel rides. The Lanzarote guides online are great for this – trip advisor, expedia, skyscanner etc all recommend things to try whilst you are here. You may also wish to look at www.lanzaroteguidebook.com for an alternative guide on things to do.
INTRUDER ALARM INFORMATION
The alarm keypad is located on your right hand side as you enter the front door
In the unlikely event that the alarm is triggered and you can’t silence it, the company that monitors it will speak to you via one of the monitors and give a key phrase of “we are all” you need to respond with the counterkey word of “Wednesday” this will avoid a police response.
NB. There is a security camera in the living room. It is linked to the alarm system and programmed to activate and record only if movement is detected whilst the alarm is set
We hope you have a great time,
Best wishes, Neil & Vanessa
